I create,

When we're stuck in a creative rut, it is important to remember how the natural flow of creation comes to be. Although tricky, the ways we can allow ourselves to be inspired actually comes easy.

Think of all those times you weren't able to churn out an idea or even make a decision as simple as "What's for dinner tonight?", in those situations, when faced with the disappointment of your natural creative flow, making a conscious choice as to whether you are choosing to be less panicked or less calm will actually determine whether or not you will add on additional stress onto yourself.

Your first thoughts/actions come about due to upbringing and environmental factors that have shaped you to be, but your second follow up thought/action will always be what you choose for yourself, against all trained inclinations. So you are always in power to choose what you wish for yourself.

"I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions." - Stephen R. Covey

I create my reality,

and I am not a product of my circumstances.

The last thing you would wish to hold onto when in a creative rut is stress. When you're experiencing stress, your brain releases a stress hormone called cortisol. When cortisol levels are high in the body, this naturally reduces the levels of serotonin, a creativity-boosting hormone.

It is said that serotonin levels are highest when you just wake up, so take a few moments in the morning upon waking up, or after a nap, to quickly jot down the ideas you might have on a project you are working on. This boils down to you actually choosing to take a nap at times or just going to bed instead of burning the midnight oil. Allow yourself to use sleep to your benefit.

I create best with good rest,

so just for now, I will choose slumber.

My personal favourite way to get inspired is to be (in)nature. When in nature, the stresses we tend to correlate to an urban city scape will find its place for rest. There is some sort of link we tend to draw with buildings and the rush of high-productivity, instantly gratifying results that can end up blocking our creative flow.

When you look at nature and how it is, it just allows itself to be. That is how nature creates, it is how it comes to be. This flow brings about creation and manifests itself in the most simplistic but deeply beautiful manner. The trees do not choose any fixed direction to go other than towards the sun and all which provides it nutrients. So find your nutrients, and make things work for you.

I create all that can best be,

just like nature and how it permits itself the space to just be.

Sometimes, all you need is a little reminder to reaffirm yourself, so use this little phrase "I create," to help you with your creative blocks and world-shifting brainstorms, because you create, whatever it is you wish. Take some time off to try the three tips shared, and start drafting all your best affirmations before allowing them to come to be.
